What to Expect on a Hack

Meet your horse – You’ll be introduced to one of our calm and friendly cobs, ideal for riders of all levels.

Safety briefing – Our instructors provide a full safety overview, including how to handle your horse on trails.

The ride begins – Depending on your chosen hack, you’ll ride through peaceful country lanes or ascend Garn Fadryn, enjoying fresh air and incredible scenery.

Pace for your ability – Short canters are offered on mountain trails for experienced riders, while beginners ride at a walk or gentle trot.

Relax and enjoy – Our instructors guide you throughout, ensuring a safe, fun, and memorable experience.

By the end of your hack, you’ll have experienced the beauty of Wales from horseback, making memories that last long after your holiday.

Hack Options

Country Lane Hack – Suitable for Beginners
Ride along quiet lanes and scenic routes on calm, reliable cobs. These hacks are suitable for both complete beginners and more experienced riders. Rides are also suitable for riders on the lead rein or those needing support on the ground.
1/2 hour: £30
1 hour: £45

Mountain Hack – Intermediate to Experienced Riders
Ascend Garn Fadryn for panoramic views across Snowdonia. Riders must be capable of riding at walk, trot and canter independently in an open space for this ride. Weather dependent, short canters are included for experienced riders. Our Iberian horses are not used for client hacks, keeping the trail rides relaxed and safe.

Hacks – FAQs

Do I need previous riding experience?
No experience is required for our country lane hacks. Mountain hacks are suited to more experienced riders capable of riding at walk, trot and canter independently, with short canters available.

Are the horses suitable for beginners?
Yes, all hacks are ridden on calm, reliable ponies and cobs that are ideal for riders of all abilities.

What should I wear for a hack?
Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the weather, boots with a small heel, and a riding hat. Hats are required and are available to borrow.

How long are the hacks?
Country lane hacks are available from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.

Can I book a hack as a holiday experience?
Yes, our hacks are perfect for tourists and holidaymakers visiting North Wales, Snowdonia and the surrounding area.

Is there a weight limit?
Yes, a rider weight limit of 13 stone (82kg) applies to ensure the welfare of the horses.

Can I buy a hack as a gift?
Yes, gift vouchers are available and make a unique experience for friends or family visiting Wales. Please contact us using the details on the contact page to purchase.

Is there something to do for non-riders?
Yes, we have an indoor arena with plenty going on so you can watch while friends or family are out on a hack. You are also very welcome to walk along on the 1/2 hour and 1 hour country lane hacks if you wish.

What happens if the weather is bad?
In bad weather, we can either offer a ride in our indoor arena (if available) or reschedule your booking.
