At Pen-Lyn Lusitanos in Wales, UK, we offer friendly and supportive horse riding lessons for beginners, children, and those returning to riding after a break on one of our cobs. If you are an experienced rider, why not book a classical lesson on one of our Lusitano or Spanish horses. Our focus is on building confidence, teaching correct basics, and helping every rider feel comfortable in the saddle.
Whether it’s your very first time around horses or you’re looking to improve your skills, our experienced instructors will guide you step by step in a calm and encouraging environment.

Lessons take place in our safe and spacious 20m x 40m indoor arena, allowing you to ride comfortably in all weather conditions.
Never ridden before? Here's what to expect on your first horse riding lesson. It is all about feeling comfortable, safe, and having fun.
Meet your horse – You’ll be introduced to one of our gentle, beginner-friendly horses and learn how to approach, groom, and handle them safely.
Safety first – Our instructors will fit you with a riding hat and explain essential safety rules before you even get in the saddle.
Getting in the saddle – With guidance, you’ll mount your horse and learn the correct riding position, balance, and how to hold the reins.
Basic riding skills – You’ll start with simple walking exercises, learning how to steer, stop, and move your horse confidently, before progressing to trot and canter when you’re ready.
Confidence building – Lessons are relaxed and supportive. You’ll progress at your own pace, with plenty of encouragement from our instructors.
Cool down and review – After riding, you may help groom your horse and discuss what you learned, making sure you feel proud of your first steps in horse riding.
By the end of your first lesson, you’ll have experienced the joy of riding and gained a solid foundation to build on in future lessons.
Riding Lesson: £30 (30 minutes)
Lessons may be shared with another rider of similar ability.
A rider weight limit of 13 stone (82kg) applies. This may vary depending on the horse.
Gift vouchers are available, making a great introduction to horse riding for children or adults.
